Donell Trostrud

Based in Carlsbad, California

Administration Coordinator

Donell and her husband Steve worked with the High School Youth Group at their church in California for 4 years before entering missionary training. They served with Ethnos360 for over 30 years in Papua New Guinea supporting the church planting effort, and raised 3 missionary kids there, one of which is MK Care’s own Bree Ammerman! Donell stepped into many ministries over their years in PNG,
mainly in areas of administration. The Trostruds moved back to the States and now serve with Ethnos360 remotely from Idaho. Donell uses her gifts to help the MK Care team with the many administrative needs they have while serving MKs from around the world.

Holly Dyck

Based in Burlington, North Carolina

Care Assistant

Holly and her husband Vern met in Bible school, married, and went through the missionary training. They served with Ethnos Canada as church planters in a remote people group for 15 years in Venezuela. They raised five MK’s and Holly homeschooled them during their ministry in Venezuela. Due to the unrest in the country, their work closed down and they transitioned to be a part of Emanate, the Ethnos Canada missionary training program. The Dycks served in this ministry for 20 years. During their time there Holly established the MK Care and Education department which involved preparing missionary families for the transitions ahead through classes and family activities, investing in college-age MK, and debriefing both MK’s and the whole family unit. Holly has a heart to see the missionary family thrive and is excited to be working with our team.

Kristi Jansma

Based in Lynden, Washington

Connection Assistant

Kristi grew up in Ohio but was always drawn to missions. She met her husband Phil during college, and they went into Missionary training soon after they were finished. They first served in Brazil where Phil grew up. They also served in Papua New Guinea for a few years living at the Ethnos360 school. When they moved back to Brazil, they already had quite a few kids and soon their family grew even more.
Kristi has 12 children who were raised on the mission field, so she is passionate about the benefits and struggles that come with being children of missionaries. Phil died in January of 2021 from Covid in Brazil. Kristi now lives in Washington with her kids. While she didn’t grow up as an MK, she has moved and been uprooted a lot throughout her life. She can sympathize with leaving one’s home and the loss that comes with confusing combinations of identity and culture. She has experienced a lot of comfort during this time of loss and hopes that she can now in turn offer support to MKs who might also be in periods of transition.

Kris Howe

Based in Camdenton, MO

MK Care Liaison to Ethnos360 Training Center

Kris and his wife, Mary-Jane, met at College of the Ozarks working at a summer camp for kids. They married in 2000 and went to EBI and through the Ethnos360 training. They went to the field of Brazil as church planters amongst the Asheninka people group but also worked at the MK school in Brazil as dorm parents and teachers. After 9 years in Brazil, they moved to Peru where they spent 5 years doing a church plant. They moved back to the US in 2020 and are currently on staff at the Ethnos360 Training Center. The Howes have 4 kids. Kris is an MK and remembers the struggles of transitions and difficulty returning to the US for his college years. Kris has a heart for MKs and a desire to come alongside MKs in any way to help them in their transitions and spiritual growth.
